The Colorado symphony celebrated its twentieth anniversary of performing back in 2009. Its 2011 and 2012 program continues its tradition of Masterworks concerts, pops performances, family shows and holiday performances. They also continued the summer park concert shows and they expect to do so again next summer.
Upcoming features in the Masterworks series include 'The Planets: an HD Odyssey' which will have an orchestral suite perform against the backdrop of stunning NASA photographic images. Another show will be Beethoven's Seventh conducted by Peter Oundjian. The series starts with a kick off show conducted by Yan Pascal Tortelier. The orchestra will also entertain guests with special one night concerts that feature accompanying acts like Patti Lupone, Renee Fleming and Celtic Woman.
Family night's will feature great performances like 'Mozart: The Wonder Child' in January of 2012. Other family shows include a percussion performance featuring Drums of the World and a 'Halloween Spooktacular' that will display the eerie sounds that conjure up spooky thoughts of Halloween.
The holiday season will include two amazing shows. A Colorado Christmas will play time-honored Christmas carols that children and adults of all ages will enjoy. The following weekend, 'Messiah by Candlelight' will feature a choral masterpiece that will end with the powerful 'Hallelujah' chorus.
The symphony also played a free concert on the tenth anniversary of the September 11th attacks when they joined with The Beach Boys to remember the tragedy. Upcoming shows include a tribute to Tchaikovsky and another tribute to the writings of William Shakespeare.
The Colorado symphony combines classic and modern sounds. With innovative programming, the orchestra performs beautiful music featuring all your favorite instruments. Listen to brass, percussion, strings and woodwinds as you marvel at the talented musicians in the orchestra pit. Fans of every age can enjoy the performances anytime of year.
