Is It Possible To Learn To Play Guitar?

By Jack Wogan

Many guitar players find themselves at a standstill, in spite of the fact that they can play this instrument really good. They feel the need to cross the border from satisfactory" to excellent" but are unaware how to do this. They keep on rehearsing their tunes with regularity, read all the material published in this field and even attend conferences. But something is still missing. What could it be? Keep reading and you will find out.

Get rid of the routine

Nothing destroys our spirit more than routine. This goes for guitar playing as well. So, make sure you step away from routine whenever you can. This will also help you become more creative when you play guitar or any other instrument. Nonetheless, you should be aware that getting rid of routine translates into giving up to daily comfort. Most people are not very happy when they have to step out of their comfort zone. However, there is no other way for performance than hard work.

Move to the next level

Though you might be accustomed to playing your good old acoustic guitar, this is not necessarily beneficial if you want to become a professional player. It is important to get your hands on other guitar types as well. Electric or bass guitar are the best upgrade that a guitar player, aspiring to become a professional, can make. You can also add a guitar effects pedal to obtain new, original tunes. The guitar effects pedal has to be plugged to the guitar.

Stick with your gut

This is really important if you want to become a pro as far as guitar playing is concerned. For many it starts as a hobby and then transforms into a lifetime career. So, make sure you practice enough if you want to reach a level that will allow you to play guitar in a band and even record an album. You never know when you could become the next sensational talent.

Listen to an array of music styles

Even if you like folk more than rock, make sure you do not stick solely to this music genre. This will hinder your development as a complete musician. True guitar legends have drawn their inspiration from various music styles. You can do the same by observing closely the manner in which both new and legendary bands perform. For the best results, you can keep a journal where you write down things that have left a serious impression on you and which you would like to try one day. In the end, it all amounts to your motivation and keeping it awake as much as possible.
