Hip Hop Mix CD And Interesting Facts About This Culture

By Michael Young

As many would assume that Hip Hop simply means a genre of music, there is much more to it. When you hear people rapping or being more outspoken, or even dressing in a particular way, it is called a culture. With Hip Hop Mix CD the music evolved into a culture which many people, up until today, follow religiously.

One of the biggest reasons people enjoyed this genre is because of the dance moves that you could create when the music came on. Breakdancing specifically is one of the more popular styles because it exudes the feeling of being cool. It was widely used in competitions where people would create groups and challenge each other for prizes that range from money to fame.

Alongside this style of dance, is the style of clothing. In this time, manly youth would dress in clothing that was mostly baggy and loose. They would also use bandanas and sometimes tie it to their heads, necks and even wrists. This could also sometimes come across as though they were a gang member. Women also embraced this style and still do today.

Rap music is an added term for this ethos. During this time, rap music was taking over the globe and everyone wanted to have the music. It became so popular, that every club and every party would play this style over any other music. At this time, rap is what got the crowd going. It created more popularity for the people playing the music at local parties than it did for the artists.

Graffiti is the first form of art during this era that caught public attention. Many people chose to express themselves by using spray paint to write on public walls and buildings. These could range from what they felt to something they hated or even loved. It got the attention of the public and even the police. It was frowned upon, however; this trend is still alive today. Spray paint could also be about showing certain words or names that are made up. Eventually, certain areas became filled with colour and expressive terms. The areas that contained this more than usual easily came across as the more dangerous areas.

In time, rap became so popular that if you didn t listen to it, you were almost seen as an outcast. Also, the music industry was booming and the artists who had other styles had to start thinking about incorporating the same style if they wanted to make sales. They would generally collaborate with rappers to make target.

It wasn t long until the world of digital came into existence. This meant that everyone across the globe was not forced to listen to music that they didn t enjoy. Although this was the majority, the ability to download other genres and be exposed to what other artists are doing, slowly pushed rap off the high stoop and made room for others.

The culture has proven to be somewhat of a nuisance from time to time however, it is the only urban ethos that brought a nation together.
