Installation And Maintenance Of Landscape Speakers

By Lois Gordon

Landscape speakers are usually waterproof and engineered for outdoor purposes, for wet, and moist surroundings. Their primary function is to spread a seamless sound, typically on a 360 degree scale, for wider open areas like parks and gardens. Their shapes and designs vary. Garden types are most common.

Most are meant to be installed for a semi or fixed outdoor purpose. These are exposed to environmental hazards and elements. They cost money and as such, appropriate installation, care and maintenance are vital to prolong its lifespan.

When installing, mind to choose a smoother surface to minimize or avoid vibration. If they are to driven to ground, choose areas where water does not stagnate. Wires or cords must be routed in proper way. Otherwise, these may be pulled, or pinched or cause accidental tripping. It may be wise to opt for installation service from the unit seller, or hire a master electrician to install. Post installation waterproofing is necessary.

Installations can be done in different ways. They could be ground driven, attached to wood, fastened to concrete, or to other surfaces. There are many models available and their care and maintenance may also vary.

Speaker installations must be as precise as per product instruction as nearly as possible. Good sound quality results by following installation specification such as required distances between the amplifier or receiver to the position of the speakers. External materials necessary for complete installation such as cords, wiring, sealant, bracket or protective coating should be in accordance to suggested specifications from the manufacturer.

Landscape speakers need cleaning at given intervals. Typically, they consist of many parts. Some are tiny and delicate to handle. These should be handled with great care. A damp cloth soaked in mild detergent is usually sufficient to remove dust or dirt from the outside. Alternatively, using fresh water, a pressure controlled hose can be used. Too much water pressure may damage its grill, driver, or its acoustic port. landscape speakers
